Young Voices 2026

Last Wednesday, our choir had a fantastic time performing at the Young Voices concert at The O2.

With so many children taking part, it was an unforgettable experience. It was wonderful to see how much the children enjoyed performing as part of such a large choir. Their enthusiasm, confidence and impeccable behaviour made us incredibly proud.

A huge thank you to Miss Lundy and Mrs Smith for organising the event and preparing the children so thoroughly. I am also very grateful to Mrs Hewitt and Miss Patsalis for accompanying and supporting the choir on the evening.

Focus over the next two weeks:

Over the next two weeks we will be focusing on:

  • From Monday 9 March, we will be trialling Arbor's In-app Messaging facility to communicate minor head bumps to parents / carers. This will replace phone calls and letters home, but if you are concerned about an incident, please call the school office for more information. Please remember that we will always phone to report serious incidents.
  • Populating Arbor's calendar.
  • Sending shorter communications through the Arbor app rather than via Arbor's email system.
  • Asking for consents through Arbor.

Arbor's Parent Portal and App

As we will be using the parent portal and app more please could all parents ensure that they log in regularly.

Please be aware that we can only send unformatted text through in-app messaging, so we will continue using the Arbor email facility to send out longer documents and these will not show in the Parent Portal or App.

Parent / Guardian Consultation Meetings

The Parent / Guardian Consultation Meetings will be held on Wednesday 25th and Thursday 26th March. We are in the process of setting the meetings up on Arbor, and they will be shown on your Parent Portal / Parent App, but please be aware that bookings will only open on Sunday 8 March.

The meetings will be held online and meeting links will follow separately.

Collective Worship Committee News

On Thursday, 12th February, some members of the Collective Worship Committee attended the London Diocesan Board for Schools’ Annual Service at St Paul’s Cathedral. The theme this year was The Power of Forgiveness: Restoring Relationships. Below is a report about the event written by two of the children from Year 5.

Our Trip to Saint Paul’s Cathedral

We were excited as we set off from Saint Paul’s School to travel to the Cathedral. While we waited for the train, we all talked about how excited we were, wondered how long the journey might be and how grand the Cathedral would be.

We took a puzzle piece with us to represent our school, which we had decorated with the theme of the service - Forgiveness.

Confirmation

The Bishop of Edmonton will be at St Paul's Church on Sunday 14 June to administer the sacraments of baptism and confirmation, and receive candidates into the communion of the Church of England. Confirmation classes (for children in Year 5 and above) take place on Thursdays, at 6.30pm, starting on Thursday 19 March. Please contact the Parish Office at office@spwh.org to register your child. For arrangements for confirmation in the other parishes linked with the school, please speak to the relevant clergy.

Pilgrimage to St Paul's Cathedral

As part of its Lent programme, St Paul's Church is organising a pilgrimage to St Paul's Cathedral on Saturday 21 March. The day will begin with a Eucharist at St Paul's Church at 10am following which we will make the 10 mile journey on foot to the cathedral, arriving by 4.15pm for evensong at 5pm. There are options to join the group at Harringay or Essex Road Stations if 10 miles is too much! Sign up at https://forms.gle/J4nyxThZPzV6wiQt6 or contact Fr Daniel for more details.

Reception – Lunar New Year

RKJ had a belated Lunar New Year celebration. We spoke about how the festival is celebrated and the significance of the colour red. Some children shared their own experiences of celebrating Lunar New Year.

We wrote Chinese letters in black and gold paint.

We looked carefully at forming shapes for the first letter of our names.

We also made lanterns.

We followed instructions to cut and stick the lanterns into the correct hanging shape.

Year 3

In the final week of last term, Year 3 completed their non-chronological reports on Ancient Egypt in English. This is linked closely to their history learning, where the children have been studying ancient civilisations. The pupils worked hard to present their research clearly, using headings, subheadings and interesting facts to inform their readers.
