School lunches

Please make sure you are selecting your child’s lunch before they come into school each day. This helps the kitchen to have the correct amount of food available. If your child brings in a packed lunch please can you make sure there are no glass containers in it.

Jewellery

No jewellery other than stud earrings and a watch may be worn to school.

I have noticed a number of children wearing hooped earrings, please can you make sure these are not worn to school.

Reception

We have had a fantastic time exploring space this week! The children enjoyed painting planets and getting creative with colours and patterns. We also made our very own telescopes and used them to imagine exploring the stars and discovering new planets.

Year 1

Year 1 this week had fun in their Maths lesson. They drew their own number lines jumping forwards and backwards and counting one more and one less.

Year 2

Another busy week in Year 2! The children really enjoyed reading for pleasure and sharing their favourite books with the class. They have been exploring the differences between fiction and non-fiction texts, using evidence from what they have read to support their ideas.

In our daily phonics sessions, the children have been focusing on alternative spellings and developing their understanding of the different ways sounds can be represented in words.

Year 3

Celtic Harmony Trip

This week, Year 3 stepped back in time and entered the fascinating world of the Stone Age during their trip to Celtic Harmony!

The children experienced life as Stone Age people would have, taking part in hunting and gathering activities and creating a meal using wild ingredients.

They also learnt how to make fire and create tools using traditional methods, before putting their skills to the test by building their very own den.

It was a fantastic day of hands-on learning, teamwork and discovery, giving the children a real taste of what life was like in the Stone Age!

Year 4

This week in Spanish, Year 4 created ID cards with some of their personal information. This included their names, age, the city they live in and their nationality. This was a fantastic way for the children to show off everything they have learnt this half term about presenting themselves. Well done Year 4.

Year 5

This week, Year 5 were delighted to welcome Father Daniel, who came to speak to us about pilgrimage as part of our RE learning. He taught us about the key reasons why Christians choose to go on pilgrimage and shared some of his own personal experiences with us. We also learnt about Walsingham and Canterbury, exploring why these special places are significant sites of Christian pilgrimage in England. It was wonderful to hear from Father Daniel and bring our learning about pilgrimage to life!

Year 6

The Secret Listeners Workshop

Year 6 enjoyed a fascinating visit from Freshwater Theatre Company, in partnership with Trent Park House of Secrets. Through an interactive workshop, the children discovered the remarkable story of the ‘Secret Listeners’ (Eric Mark – German Jewish Refugee) during World War II, who secretly listened to conversations between German prisoners of war to gather vital intelligence. The children took part in exciting activities, including passing coded messages and drama-based role-play, bringing this little-known piece of local history to life. It was an engaging and memorable way to deepen their understanding of World War II!
