Forgiveness

This half-term our school value is forgiveness. Please spend time discussing this value with your child and encourage them to practice forgiveness in their daily lives.

Forgive as the Lord forgave you.
Colossians 3:13

Anti-Bullying Week

This week is National Anti-Bullying week.

https://anti-bullyingalliance.org.uk/anti-bullying-week-2023-make-noise-about-bullying/anti-bullying-week-2023-make-noise-about-bullying

This year’s theme is “Make a noise about bullying”.

On Monday, the children came to school wearing odd socks to reinforce that we can all be different. The week before last week, all the children took part in a workshop led by an outside agency. During this week we are doing some more activities in class to promote kindness and friendship.

Autism

Our parents of our neurodivergent children's group would like to share this poem about Autism.

Autism is:

Unable to speak, or maybe speaking too much
Hugging everyone, or disliking touch
Escaping outside,
Or trying to hide
Excitedly flapping
Inappropriate clapping
Autism varies so much

Won't wear a coat, or wears one all year round
Fussy eater, or would eat dirt from the ground
Screaming or humming
Annoyingly drumming
Toys in a line
The same way every time
Autism varies so much

Struggling to learn, or has wonderful gifts
Obsessions of numbers, trains, films or lifts
Spinning around
Throws things on the ground
Constantly spitting
Aggressively hitting
Autism varies so much

Alone without friends, or controls every game
Always looks different, always dresses the same
Swinging on doors
Head banging on floors
Freaks at the dryer
Keeps climbing higher
Autism varies so much.

Can't answer questions, won't do as they're told
In their own world or bossy and bold
Over prepared
Anxious and scared
A spectrum so wide
But they all bring us pride
When autism touches our lives.

We're asking for a donation of £1 made directly to Help for Hunger's JustGiving page by clicking here.

If you are also interested in donating a hamper yourself, please follow this link to the Help for Hunger website for all the information you will need.

Year 1's Science Investigations

For our science we have been investigating creatures that live in our outside area. We went into the garden and we found worms, snails, birds, spiders, woodlice and lots more. We also looked for clues that other animals share our space. We found spiders webs and saw holes that squirrels had dug.

Year 2's Science

As part of our new science topic ‘ Materials’ we tested out different types of balls to see which one would bounce the highest. We kept it to a fair test by keeping the distance the ball was dropped the same each time. We tested each ball three times. The children worked fantastically together!

Year 4's Clarinets and Trumpets

Year 4 have been creating some incredible music over the past few weeks. We are all really enjoying learning either the clarinet or the trumpet. After only 6 lessons, we can hold our instruments properly, can play 4 different notes, know how to hold our instruments in rest position and we can read some musical notes. Year 4 are showing incredible enthusiasm and dedication in every lesson!

Year 5's Computing

As part of the year 5 computing unit ‘Selection in Physical Computing’, we have been learning how to programme output devices using algorithms within Crumble software.  We learnt how to change the conditions to start an action such as turning an LED light on/off or creating a pattern of coloured lights.
