Collective Worship

We encourage you to discuss the themes we explore further with your child at home.

Here are some suggested questions and prayers you may wish to use.

This week

The clergy team have been leading a collective worship each morning exploring the Stations of the Cross.

Theme:

Jesus’ entry into Jerusalem

Facing the future with courage

Questions:

When have you had to be courageous?

What or who gave you strength at that time?

How did you cope under pressure?

Do you think trusting in God helps people who are facing uncertainty? Why or why not?

Challenge:

Make a list of three things you can do that help you when things are difficult.

Prayer:

Thank you, Lord, that when life is scary, you are in control. Amen

Over the Holidays you might wish to explore

Themes:

The suffering and purpose of Jesus’ death

The effect of the resurrection on the first disciples

Questions:

What is good about Good Friday?
Why do you think Christians call the day they remember that Jesus died ‘Good Friday?’

What impact did Jesus’ resurrection have on the disciples?

Challenge:

Try to read a version of the Easter Story together as a family and think about how you would have felt if you were there.

Prayer:

Lord, we remember the sacrifice you made for us. May the promise of your spirit working in us fill our hearts and help us to share the love you revealed to us. Amen

Goodbye Miss Dhillon!

It is with the saddest of hearts that we say goodbye to Miss Dhillon. We wish her all the very best for the future and know that she will be a success in whatever she does.

Summer Uniform

Next term, children are able to wear summer uniform. All relevant information regarding school uniform can be found on the school website. Please ensure your child has a hooded, waterproof coat at school each day. As you will have read from the recent communication we are making some changes to our uniform. Our updated school uniform policy can be found on our website.

Dance Festival

Congratulations to all the Year 5 pupils who took part in the Enfield Dance Festival last week. They performed really well and did the school proud! It was wonderful to see all the smiling faces as they performed. A big thank you to Mrs Payne and Mrs Hewitt for all their hard work and dedication in making the dance such a success.

Parking

Please can I remind you to be mindful of local residents when parking at drop-off and pick-up time. Please ensure you do not park across our neighbours' driveways.

We have also had a complaint from a resident who lives in George Parr House regarding parents parking in the road off Vicars Moor Lane when using the back gate. We want to be able to continue to use the back gate to let children in and out of school, so please ensure you do not park in the road or let children play on the grass by George Parr House.

Polling Day

A reminder that on Thursday 2 May 2024, the school will be closed as it is used as a polling station for the local council elections.

Theo Black competed in a nationwide Minithon at Lee Valley last Saturday attended by Athletics Teams from around the country.

Theo chose to enter the 60 metre sprint and came 2nd in his heat.  He then won an amazing race in the 200 metres and followed that up with a solid run in the 600 metres. Well done Theo.

Girls football

Year 4 girls travelled to the Jack Carter Pavilion in Ilford to take part in the finals of the London Youth Games. They were representing Enfield against 29 other London boroughs. The girls won 2 games, drew one and very narrowly lost the others.

The lunchtime game between the children and adults was won convincingly by the adults, who were a little more competitive than we should have been.
The girls all played fantastically well and should be very proud of themselves.

Reception - Holi Festival

This week Reception have learnt all about Holi festival: the festival of colours. They heard the story of Prahlad and Holika and learnt what celebrations are held: they visit a temple, pray, share a meal, light bonfires and throw coloured powder and water at each other. They also sing, dance and have a fantastic time! The children then enjoyed different activities linked to Holi. They got to touch different coloured powders and feel colourful water balloons.

Year 1's Easter Experience

As part of our RE unit on Easter, Year 1 went on an educational visit to Enfield Baptist Church. Whilst we were there, the children met Inspector Luke Forcloose who invited them to investigate the mysterious events surrounding Jesus’ death and missing body by meeting some of the witnesses of the very first Easter! They had a fantastic time and we were so proud of how they behaved throughout the day.

Year 2's visit to the Science Museum

Year 2 visited the Science Museum on Monday 25th of March and took part in two activities. They firstly took part in a treasure hunt to find different furniture and had to work out what materials they were made from. They then explored the ‘Wonderlab’ which taught them about all about forces. We had a great day!

Year 5's visit to the Science Museum

On Tuesday 26th March, Year 5 visited the Science Museum as part of our current unit, ‘Earth and Space’. We began our day by taking part in a workshop, ‘Mission to Space’. We journeyed through space and time in an interactive show where rockets were launched, mysteries were solved, cutting-edge technology was explored and heard lots of loud explosions! We visited two galleries, Exploring Space and Making the Modern World, where we learnt a lot about the planets, the moon, rockets and how to survive in space. After lunch we experienced the wonder of science through exciting experiments and demos in the Wonder Show. We observed chemical reactions, explored different sources of light and, through the use of fire, saw how sound travels. We had a wonderful day as scientists at the Science Museum.
