Lateness

We have noticed the same children repeatedly arriving and being collected late several times a week. From next week, we will be speaking to individual parents reminding them of the school’s expectations, which are set out in the Home/School Agreement. Children who are regularly late miss the start of lessons and this can lead to lost learning.

Annual reports/Open afternoon

On Friday 12th July we will be providing parents with their child(ren)’s annual report(s). These reports will set out each child’s academic progress and attainment throughout the school year.

Between 3.45pm and 5.15pm on Monday 15 July, school will be open for you to view your child’s work and visit classrooms. This will also be an opportunity for parents/carers to discuss end of year reports with current class teachers.

Sports days

These were a super success! Thank you for all the positive feedback we have received.  Both KS1 and KS2 sports days went well. It was great to see so many parents supporting their child(ren) and their house. Thank you to Mr Birkbeck and Miss Perrin for organising the events.

Congratulations to Radcliffe who won the KS1 event and Compton who won the KS2 event.

The Spotlight Magazine!

Don't forget to have a look at the latest edition! Well done to the Year 6 editorial team.

Gardening

The children have been weeding and tidying the wildlife and edible gardens, digging up potatoes, and planting tomato plants we grew from seed.

There are new water holes being created.  The children demonstrated fantastic team work by working through obstacles and by always being kind.

World Refugee Day

Refugee Week is a UK-wide programme of arts, cultural and educational events and activities that celebrates the contribution of refugees to the UK and promotes better understanding of why people seek sanctuary. The theme of the week this year was ‘Solidarity with Refugees’. Part of the week is the annual celebration on the 20th of World Refugee day, the international day organised by the United Nations to honour people who have been forced to flee. It is designed to celebrate and honour refugees from around the world. At St Paul’s we marked the events with a collective worship so that the children could understand more about refugees and some of the challenges they face. We also thought about the strength it would take to be a refugee and the rich diversity of the communities they come from.

Year 1's Science

In our science this week Year 1 visited our school gardens to look at different plants. We looked at garden plants and wild plants and compared two different flowers - lavender and daisy.

Year 2’s Trip to Epping Forest!

The year 2 children visited the Epping forest field centre to spend the day in the forest. This was to support our current science topic- Plants! The day was full of wonderful activities - from tree hugging to making their own nature palettes. We learnt lots of facts throughout the day and thankfully the weather held out!

Year 3 - Verulamium Museum

Year 3 had a great time learning all about the Romans at Verulamium Museum. Children visited the remains of the city walls, walked through the old gate, visited the hypocaust and then took part in a market session.

Year 4 - English

Recently, Year 4 have had a big focus on the characters in our current class text, Edward Tulane. We created mind maps as a group to show how each character is feeling at a certain point in the text.
