Looking ahead, World Book Day is coming up on March 6th. This year, we're inviting children to come to school in their pyjamas or comfy clothes to celebrate the joy of reading for pleasure. Children should bring their favourite book into school. It's sure to be a cosy and fun-filled day!
Reminders
For our Year 5 and 6 students, there will be a Eucharist service on February 24th at Holy Trinity Church. Please note that children should be collected from the church on Green Lanes at 3pm on that day.
Parking
We have received another complaint from our neighbours on Vicars Moor Lane about parents parking over their driveways. This is not only inconvenient and disrespectful, but some parents have reportedly been rude when asked to move. I kindly ask that we all remember to treat our neighbours with respect and consideration.
Thank you
I'd like to express my gratitude to all the parents who continue to volunteer for our school street project. Thank you for giving up your time to keep the children safe.
Staff News
We wish Miss Yiapanis well as she begins her maternity leave on February 28th. At the same time, we're thrilled to welcome back Miss Dhillon, who, following her marriage last year, has returned to St Paul's as Mrs Radia and who will be teaching class 6Y after half term.
Lost Property
The following children's coats have been left in lost property and, if not claimed, will be taken to a charity shop.
M&S & YoungMinds Young Designer Competition
YoungMinds and M&S are inviting young people to enter their brand-new design competition!
Young people aged 5 - 16 are asked to create a design for a new hoodie or sweatshirt – with the chance to have their design sold in M&S stores and online later this year.
All profits from the sales will support YoungMinds to help them keep fighting for young people’s mental health.
As well as having their design sold at M&S, the winning young person will receive:
An invite with their parent or carer to visit M&S’s London support centre and see their design transformed into artwork, or to tour the supplier factory in the Midlands and watch them be printed.
The opportunity to participate in the product launch this September.
Sweatshirts or hoodies for their whole class to wear for Hello Yellow on 10th October.
To take part, young people have been asked to create a design for either a hoodie or a sweatshirt inspired by what they would say to a friend who needs them. Designs must be submitted by 11.59pm on Monday 31st March.
Here are the templates for the hoodie and the sweatshirt for you to print out.
Or your child could do their design on a plain sheet of A4 paper too.
Your child can choose to design either a hoodie or a sweatshirt – the choice is theirs! To find out more about the competition and to submit your child’s completed design visit:
YoungMinds have resources for parents and carers to find help and advice if you’re ever concerned about a child or young person. You can find this on their website: www.youngminds.org.uk/parent.
The EDI
The next EDI meeting will take place on Thursday 6 March, it will be online. If you would like to join the meeting please contact the school office.
Collective Worship
The Collective Worship Board
Picture shows the collective worship display board in the school’s entrance hall with themes for this term’s collective worship to enable the children to reflect and prompt them to think about their actions.
This half term, the themes for collective worship are taken from the London Diocesan Board of Schools cycle of Collective worship based around the Bible readings in Church each week. Here are some suggested questions and prayers which you may wish to also use with your children at home.
This week
Themes drawn from Isaiah 6:-8 and Luke 5:1-11
Hearing and responding to God’s call
Vocation
Questions: What do you (did you) dream of doing when you are older?
Have you ever had a sense that God was calling you to do something? What happened?
Challenge: Find out about what is involved in the job you would like to do in the future. If you don’t know what you would like to do ask an adult about their job. What they do and how they came to do that job.
Prayer: Father God, I pray that I will know you guiding me in the way I should go. Amen
Next Week
Themes drawn from Genesis 2:4b-9 15-25 and Psalm 65
God is revealed in creation
Care for our world/environment
Questions: What are you doing to be green? Do you think it is important? Why/why not?
How do you believe the world came into being? Do you believe God was involved? Why/why not?
Challenge: Recycle wherever you can this week.
Prayer: Father God, thank you for your wonderful creation. Help me to take care of your world. Amen.

As part of Children’s Mental Health Awareness Week, the children in year 1 decorated hearts with messages on to give to a partner. We talked about how we are all unique and what is special about us. Just like we need exercise and the right food to keep our bodies healthy, we also need to do things that keep our minds healthy. We talked about the different things we like to do keep our minds healthy. We also talked about how we can help others stay healthy too by being kind.
Year 2
Year 2 created thoughtful posters inspired by the key to well-being: Know yourself, grow yourself.
