Goodbye to our Leavers
The last week of the summer term belongs to our Year 6 children. This can be an emotional time for the children, parents and staff as we say farewell. On Tuesday we had the Year 6 Leavers’ Service at church. Thank you to Fr. Daniel for this lovely service and to Poppy for hosting us at short notice at St. Peter’s. Today we had the Year 6 Leavers’ Assembly. Thank you to the staff who worked so hard to make sure these last events went well and to the children who sang and read so beautifully.
We wish Year 6 continued success as they move on to their secondary schools. We hope that they will keep in touch with each other and continue to flourish.
Farewell to Mrs Naylor, Mrs Antoniou and Ms Dragunow
Mrs Naylor
We say goodbye to Mrs Naylor as she retires today. Mrs Naylor has been at St Paul’s since 1999. During this time, she has worked across KS1 and KS2. She has led a number of curriculum subjects, including RE. We thank Mrs Naylor for all her hard work and dedication, including her time in our wonderful garden.
Mrs Antoniou
Mrs Antoniou leaves us today to start her own baby massage business. We thank her for her kindness and hard work over the last 5 years. Her kindness has been so important when welcoming our new Reception children as they start at St Paul’s.
Ms Dragunow
Thank you to Ms Dragunow who leaves us today after taking over in RK from Mrs King in December. We wish her well in her future career.
Rags to Riches production
The school production of “Rags to Riches” was amazing! The children worked extremely hard. They put so much effort and energy into learning their lines, the songs, practising their dances and working as a team to pull it all together in a very short space of time and in very warm weather. The acting and singing was of the highest standard.
The KS2 staff worked tirelessly in preparation for this event. We are very fortunate to have such a dedicated team. Thank you, parents, for supplying the costumes and helping the children to learn their lines and coming to be part of a great audience. The school production remains one of St Paul’s main events; it is a wonderful example of the community coming together to create something special of which we can all be very proud.
Thank you FOSPS
Thank you to the FOSPS for all of their hard work during this academic year. It never ceases to amaze me how successful their fund raising is. We look forward to sharing our new STEAM room with everyone which the FOSPS have been working so hard to fund. Thank you!

Year 1 trip to Walton-on-the-Naze
Year 1 very much enjoyed their trip to the seaside last week. This was linked to the learning about seaside holidays in Britain over the last hundred years. The children were able to experience building sandcastles and paddling in the sea. They also took a walk along the promenade to look at the colourful beach huts. All leisure activities that people enjoyed many years ago and are still enjoyed today. The day was completed with an ice lolly.

Year 5 - Our Favourite Things
This week, 5B have produced non-chronological reports about some of their favourite interests. They researched, wrote up drafts, produced their final posters then presented to the class. Some topics included F1, Sabrina Carpenter, Wimbledon, Lions rugby and celebrity pets.

Boys Football Team - Fursman Cup
Congratulations to the boys’ football team for reaching the final of the prestigious Fursman Cup, which this year saw over 20 primary schools from across the borough take part.
Last Friday, the team triumphed in a tense semi-final against Grange Park, winning on penalties after a 1-1 draw.
The final was held on Tuesday at Enfield Grammar, where we faced a strong St John’s side. In a closely contested match, the final score finished 2-0 to St John’s. St Paul’s created several excellent chances to equalise when the score was 1-0, but a late penalty for St John’s sealed the result.
Reaching the final is a fantastic achievement and a brilliant way to round off a successful year for the team. Well done, boys!
A happier team after winning the semi-final
Collective Worship
The picture shows the Collective Worship display in the entrance hall. In the background are stained glass windows with pictures reflecting school values of Hope and Peace. On the table is a Bible, prayer box and prayer beads.
At Saint Paul’s, we see our daily acts of collective worship as a time for children and staff to come together and reflect on their own values and beliefs, as well as respecting those of others. It is important to us that children feel comfortable expressing themselves, while also recognising the diversity of perspectives within our school community.
Clergy led worships currently follow the theme of Spirituality, while other worships are drawn from the London Diocesan Board of Schools cycle of Collective Worship based around Bible readings in Church each week. These are developed further throughout the week. We encourage you to discuss the themes we explore with your child at home. Here are some suggested questions and prayers you may wish to use.
This week
Themes drawn from Psalm 25:1-10 and Luke 10:25-37
Loving your neighbour
Questions:
When was the last time you helped someone? What happened?
Who do you find it difficult to show love to? Why?
What can you do this week to show kindness to someone?
Have you ever stood up for someone else when they needed your help?
Challenge:
Look for an opportunity to help someone outside your friendship group.
Prayer:
Father God, thank you for your love for me. Help me to show that love towards others, Amen.
Some upcoming religious festivals and holy days
July 23 – Rastafari – Birthday of Haile Selassie I
This is one of the holiest days of the Rastafarian year. It is celebrated with Nyahbinghi drumming, hymns and prayers.
August 1 – Pagan – Lammas/Lughnasadh
Lughnasadh, otherwise called Lammas, is the time of the corn harvest, when Pagans reap those things they have sown and when they celebrate the fruits of the mystery of nature.
August 3 – Jewish – Tisha B’av
This is the saddest day of the Jewish calendar. A full day's fast is held at the conclusion of three weeks of mourning, while reflecting on the destruction of the first and second Temples in Jerusalem.
August 9 - Hindu, Jain – Raksha Bandhan
This festival takes place on the full moon of the month of Shravana. Raksha means ‘protection’ and bandhan means ‘to tie’. Girls and married women in families who come from a North Indian background tie a rakhi (amulet) on the right wrists of their brothers, wishing them protection. The brothers in return promise to protect their sisters and offer them gifts and sweets. This ritual not only strengthens the bond of love between brothers and sisters, but also reinforces the unity of the family.
August 15 – Christian - Feast of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary
On this day many Christians celebrate the ‘taking up’ of Mary, body and soul, to heaven. Several Catholic communities mark the festival of the Assumption with processions and fêtes.
August 15 – Zoroastrian – Navroze/No Ruz
New Year’s Day on the Shenshai Calendar. In the tenth century a group of Zoroastrians fled from Iran and were given religious sanctuary by the Hindus of Western India, where they became known as Parsis (or Persians).
August 15 – Hindu -Janmashtami/Krishna Jayanti
The birthday of Krishna is widely celebrated throughout the Hindu world. Many Hindus fast in his honour for 24 hours until midnight, the time of Krishna’s birth.
August 19 – Christian - The Transfiguration
This festival commemorates the occasion when Jesus went up a mountain with three of his disciples, Peter, James and John. They saw his face changed and his clothes became dazzling white and watched him in conversation with Moses and Elijah. They also heard a voice saying, ‘This is my own dear Son with whom I am pleased – listen to him’.
A Summer Prayer for Our School Community
Dear God,
As we come to the end of this school year,
We thank You for all we have learned,
The friendships we’ve made,
And the memories we’ll carry with us.
As the summer holidays begin,
We pray for joy and peace for every child, teacher, and family.
Keep us safe in our adventures,
Calm in our quiet moments,
And joyful in our time together.
For those starting something new—
A new class, a new school, or a new chapter—
Bringing comfort, courage, and excitement.
Remind us that we are never alone,
And that change can bring wonderful new beginnings.
Help us return refreshed,
Ready to learn, grow, and care for one another once again.
Amen
