World Book Day

We will be celebrating World Book Day on Thursday 4th March, when children from all year groups will come together to share the joy of reading for pleasure.

All children are invited to come to school dressed as a character from their favourite book and bring their book with them to show their class. Please do not feel that you have to buy a costume. We don’t want our celebrations to be an additional burden on the environment or financially for families, so please recycle previous costumes or use what you have at home.

For children who do not wish to dress up, we ask that they bring their favourite book to school with a simple prop to show their class, who can then try to guess what the book is.

Safer Internet Day

Safer Internet Day took place this week. From cyberbullying to social networking to digital identity, each year Safer Internet Day aims to raise awareness of emerging online issues and current concerns. The children will be learning more about this by taking part in workshops in March. There will also be additional information for parents to access, this will be available in March too.

Coach Dogus

We are very sad to be saying goodbye to Coach Dogus who will be leaving St Paul’s on the 25 February. I know the children will miss him and we thank him for his time at St Paul's.

Extra Club – Change to Pick Up

If someone else is collecting your child from the Extra Club, please email extraclub@st-pauls.enfield.sch.uk directly rather than completing the regular online collection form.  The Extra Club staff should now have pictures of all adults authorised to collect your children.

External After School Clubs

Please notify the external Club Provider if your child is absent or if someone else is collecting them as they dismiss their own groups.

A Window of Spiritual Growth

A stained glass style window created by the Collective Worship Committee

During our Vision day on the 25th January, members of the Collective Worship Committee worked together with Rev. Poppy Hughes in our STEAM room to create a beautiful stained glass–style window using coloured cellophane and Perspex. The design was inspired by our shared journey of spirituality.

The roots symbolise our school values, which nurture and ground every child, shaping who they are and what they believe. The water represents the caring and supportive environment provided by our school community, helping each child to grow with confidence and compassion. From this, the flower emerges — a flourishing child, visible to the world and shining with individuality, faith, and hope – ‘the me you see’.

This was introduced to the school at our Whole school collective worship on Monday as a culmination of our exploration of Pilgrimage – the pilgrimage within. It will be displayed in the school as a reminder that spirituality is something to be nurtured daily through reflection, care, and community.

Arts Week

We would like to extend a huge thank you to all the providers and volunteers for their wonderful support during our bi-annual Arts Events last week. This year’s Arts Week theme was Festival of Colour, and the children spent the week celebrating the Arts in all its forms through vibrant, creative experiences.

The children were lucky enough to take part in a wide range of inspiring workshops, including a Diwali dance workshop, a theatre workshop themed around Carnival, an exciting samba drumming experience, and opportunities to develop their artistic skills with our visiting artist and creatives. The experiences included wire, clay and willow sculpture, felt making, singing, cooking, advertising and printmaking.

The teachers also led a variety of specialist workshops, showcasing an impressive array of skills and talents. The children had an amazing time and thoroughly enjoyed broadening their creative skills.

Teacher Led Workshop with Miss Patsalis

Puff Pastry Edible Art

As part of Arts Week, every year group enjoyed a creative workshop led by a different teacher. Year 6 worked with Miss Patsalis to create vibrant pieces of edible art. The children began by designing their ideas on paper, then carefully considered which vegetables and herbs could be used to form the shapes and patterns they had imagined. Using knives, cutters, and moulds, they skilfully prepared their ingredients and arranged them on pastry bases. Once baked, the colourful creations were ready to be admired—and, of course, enjoyed! The designs included flowers, animals, rainbows, houses, and many more imaginative scenes. Take a look at some of our wonderful edible creations below.

Teacher Led Workshop – Huichol Yarn Art

Year 6 created a range of designs inspired by the Mexican folk art, Huichol. They based their designs on the theme of nature and weather.

Reception

During Arts Week, RKP very much enjoyed making their own felt with Sabine. We also had fun making colourful pasta jewellery with Mrs King and experimenting with powder paint linked to Holi festival with Mrs Kelly-Jay.

Year 1 thoroughly enjoyed taking part in an exciting Create Workshop. The session was inspired by The Great Race, a legendary Chinese myth that explains the origin and order of the twelve animals in the Chinese Zodiac.

Through a range of fun drama activities, the children explored characters from the story and practised a variety of acting techniques to help them retell the tale with expression and confidence. It was wonderful to see their creativity, teamwork and enthusiasm shine throughout the workshop!

Year 3

During Arts Week, Year 3 explored an exciting range of creative activities. In the willow sculpture workshop, they worked collaboratively to design and create colourful, carnival-inspired bugs, carefully layering vibrant tissue paper onto willow frames. The frames had been created through a wonderful joint effort with Year 1, making the project a true celebration of teamwork.

The children also thoroughly enjoyed taking part in a quesadilla workshop with Georgina Hayden (recipe attached below), where they developed their cooking skills as part of our Festival of Colour theme. Mr Furlong also introduced the children to the world of advertising and set them a design brief to develop. Mr Walsh and Miss Moore from Year 4 taught lessons to the children on Mondrian and Rangoli Art.

Year 4

Year 4 had an absolutely fantastic time during Arts Week! They enjoyed a fun and creative wire sculpture workshop, where they cut and moulded wire mesh to form bird shapes. They then skilfully decorated their sculptures using colourful tissue paper, bringing each design to life. The session was filled with laughter, concentration, and proud smiles as the children explored new materials and expressed their creativity. It was a wonderful hands-on experience that everyone thoroughly enjoyed, and we thank the instructor, Will, for his excellent expertise and help.

The children enjoyed an energetic West End Dance session based on the story of the Ramayana, where they learned expressive choreography and performed with confidence. They also took part in a clay workshop, carefully crafting their own Buddha sculptures, and explored their imagination during the Create session, which included acting based on a lively festival scene. It was wonderful to see their creativity, teamwork and enthusiasm shine throughout the week.
