Life in the Garden
In November and this term, we have been planting poppies. The poppies have germinated and are starting to bloom. They are looking fabulous!
We have also planted sunflowers. There are no results yet so stay tuned. We hope to see them sprouting soon!
In the wild garden, we are starting to see some more life. We have planted the sunflowers there, wild flowers and two different types of strawberries (red ones and white ones). The strawberries get dry very easily, so we water them regularly.
We have spent a lot of time weeding and pulling up stinging nettles (with our gloves, of course).
Recently, we have planted sweet pea blue, white cosmos, and red cosmos.
This is what the sweet pea blue will look like in a month.
We have planted some lavender which we will use to make lavender pouches in summer.
FOSPS kindly donated some money for our garden which we have used to buy lots of new plants. One of the plants we have bought is a beautiful smelling wisteria, and we are hoping it will climb our archway leading into the garden.

- Did you know, poppies are self-seeding, which means their mature seeds will drop into the soil and grow again the following year.
- Did you know, poppies are a remembrance flower for those who served in the World Wars?
- Sweet peas are scientifically known as Lathyrus odoratus and are an annual climbing flower native to Sicily and southern Italy.
