As this half term comes to an end, we take time to reflect on our value of Hope.

"May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him,

so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit."

Romans 15:13

Reception

In Reception, we have been reading the book ‘So Much’. They had a go at making their own Caribbean-inspired Kente cloth. They explored inspiring pictures featuring the colours of the Caribbean flag—green, yellow, and red—and carefully cut out small pieces of card to design their own unique artwork.

Year 1

Art – Colour Mixing

This week, the children explored colour mixing through a hands-on art activity. They learned about the three primary colours, red, blue, and yellow and discovered how these can be combined to create secondary colours such as green, orange, and purple. The children were excited to experiment with different colour combinations and enjoyed observing how new colours appeared as they mixed paints together.

Using their newly created colours, the children produced their own individual pieces of artwork. This activity encouraged creativity, experimentation, and confidence in expressing themselves through art. It was wonderful to see the children so engaged and proud of the unique colours and designs they created.

Year 6

After SATs Ice cream treat

Year 6 enjoyed a well-deserved ice cream treat to celebrate all their hard work during SATs week. It was a lovely way for the children to relax, smile and mark the end of a busy week.

David Attenborough’s 100th birthday

Year 6 have been researching the fascinating life and achievements of Sir David Attenborough. They are using their findings to create informative biographical presentations, showcasing both their research and presentation skills.

Life in the Garden

In November and this term, we have been planting poppies. The poppies have germinated and are starting to bloom. They are looking fabulous!

We have also planted sunflowers. There are no results yet so stay tuned. We hope to see them sprouting soon!

In the wild garden, we are starting to see some more life. We have planted the sunflowers there, wild flowers and two different types of strawberries (red ones and white ones). The strawberries get dry very easily, so we water them regularly.

We have spent a lot of time weeding and pulling up stinging nettles (with our gloves, of course).

Recently, we have planted sweet pea blue, white cosmos, and red cosmos.

This is what the sweet pea blue will look like in a month.

We have planted some lavender which we will use to make lavender pouches in summer.

FOSPS kindly donated some money for our garden which we have used to buy lots of new plants. One of the plants we have bought is a beautiful smelling wisteria, and we are hoping it will climb our archway leading into the garden.

  1. Did you know, poppies are self-seeding, which means their mature seeds will drop into the soil and grow again the following year.
  2. Did you know, poppies are a remembrance flower for those who served in the World Wars?
  3. Sweet peas are scientifically known as Lathyrus odoratus and are an annual climbing flower native to Sicily and southern Italy.
