Census Day

Thursday 1 October is national School Census Day.  We would be very grateful if your child has a school lunch on this day as the number of lunches taken feeds into the funding the school receives.

Year 6 House and Sports Captains

Well done to all Year 6’s who shared some fantastic thoughts as to why they should be chosen as House or Sports Captains this year. The application letters and speeches were of a very high standard.

Break Time Snacks

Please make sure, if you are sending a snack in for your KS2 child to have at break time, that they are having fruit or vegetables only.

Trim trail

Please can we ask that children are not allowed on the trim trail and equipment at the end of the day once they have been collected from their classrooms.

Mobile Phones

We are a “no mobile on site” school. A polite reminder that anyone collecting children from school or dropping children off are not permitted to use their phone on the school site. We place huge value on the children being greeted at the end of the day and saying goodbye in the mornings without distractions.

Harvest Festival

Thank you to everyone who joined us at our Harvest Festival last week. The children read and sang beautifully. Thank you to Father Daniel, Mother Lyanne and Poppy for leading the service.

North London Foodbank have collected our donations this week. Thank you for your generosity.

Parking

I have been made aware by residents in Ringwood Way that there has been an increasing number of parents using the dropped kerbs outside their homes to park or to set down and collect their children.

Parents are also leaving cars parked in front of the dropped kerbs while walking their children to school, which is causing a lot of manoeuvres and turning in the area on a daily basis. Please can I ask everyone to be respectful and considerate when parking, and to avoid blocking residents’ dropped kerbs or obstructing access to their homes.

Thank you for your understanding and consideration.

Reception

Reception have enjoyed taking part in Autumn themed activities this week. They have enjoyed exploring conkers, pine cones, leaves and acorns. They sorted the natural objects into different groups and also made their own leaf characters after listening to the story, Leaf Man.

Year 1

A Busy Day in Year 1

This week in maths, the children have been developing their understanding of fewer, more and the same through fun and practical activities.

Using dice and dominoes to play ‘fewer, more or the same’.

Colouring the quantity that is more or less.

In their art lesson, they used wavy lines to create ‘water’ artwork inspired by the artist Zaria Forman. They explored using art pencils and pastels and worked with a partner to begin creating their collaborative piece.

Sharing ideas to create water artwork.

Year 2

In Maths, we have been developing our understanding of greater than, less than and equal to and using the symbols > , < and = to compare numbers. We have also been practising counting in 2s, both forwards and backwards. The children worked in pairs using Dienes, cubes and counters to help them count in 2s and recognise patterns in the numbers.

Year 3

Year 3 have enjoyed a busy couple of weeks.

In Computing, children have been making animations of stickmen using the Stop-Motion app.

We also had a visit from the Tottenham Hotspur foundation coaches who led the children in some fun football activities.  The coaches commented that it was nice for them to see some good footballing skills for a change.

Year 4

Year 4 children have had a busy couple of weeks.

In Maths, the children have been busy learning the timetables.  Students voted for the trickiest x3 timetables and most agreed that 3 x 9 = 27 was the hardest to learn!

In English, students wrote a letter to Enfield council asking them to consider creating more green spaces.

Year 5

In Geography, Year 5 have been having a wonderful time using iPads to research the features that make up a rainforest.

Here are some of the facts they learnt:

  • Did you know that 50% of the world’s animals are located/derive from the rainforest?
  • It can take ten minutes for a falling raindrop to travel from a rainforest’s thick canopy to the floor.
  • Rainforests get at least 250cm of rain a year. Sometimes it’s almost double that at 450cm.

Year 6

This week, 6R performed fantastically in their class assembly about their dreams and aspirations. They created mood board slides, crafted poems and took part in drama, while exploring how resilience, kindness, respect and teamwork are the superheroes that can help them achieve their goals. Well done, 6R!
