Year 6 school journey
Year 6 have returned from their school journey today. They have had a very sunny week in Bournemouth which I was lucky enough to be part of. It was lovely to see how much enjoyment was had by the children and how they have benefited from being together for the week. There are some great photos in the gallery section on our website. I am sure the children are looking forward to an early night tonight! Thank you to the wonderful staff team who have worked tirelessly to help make the week such a success. A special thank you to Miss Patsalis who organised the week so well.
Autism awareness week – a message from One-to- One Enfield
We would like to thank all pupils, staff and families for joining us in support of Autism Awareness Week a few weeks ago. We are truly grateful for all your contributions and helping us raise awareness more locally as well as £767.71. It has meant a lot to our members and our staff too. We are a local charity, based in Winchmore Hill, making lives better for Autistic adults and those with learning difficulties so community support is something we truly value. If you would like to find out more about our work then please visit our website www.one-to-one-enfield.co.uk. You may know someone we can support locally or perhaps you’d like to volunteer your time to help provide activities to our members. We would love to hear from you. Thank you so much once again for your support of One-to-One Enfield.
Year 1's Phonics Workshop
Thank you to everyone who attended. Please note that resources have been downloaded on the Year 1 page and can be found under Phonics Resources, Phonics Screener Workshop.
Our Friendship Buddies are established now. They are obvious in the playground because of their green jackets. They look out for people who feel or look sad or lonely and check that they are OK. The Buddies are there if anyone needs a friend. Ramy in Y5 says “I am proud to be a buddy, I play with my friends and always keep an eye out for anyone who needs a friend.”
Congratulations to Aston who has signed for Tottenham Hotspur football club a few weeks ago. What an achievement!
Reception explored the natural enviroment
Reception spent a morning exploring the natural environment of our school, looking for signs of spring and new growth. The children enjoyed taking part in a range of activities including: den building, creating clay animals, gardening and planting seeds, being creative in the mud kitchen, block play and a minibeast bug hunt. They thoroughly enjoyed learning in the outdoors and it was great to spend some time in the glorious spring sunshine.
1NP's science work
We did an experiment in science where we tested our sense of touch.
We read the story of the Princess and the Pea, then we used different fabrics to see if we could feel it through them. We used felt, cotton, bubble wrap and paper towels.
Year 2's visit to Enfield Town
Last week, Year 2 went on a local trip to Enfield Town. We discussed what we had learnt about Remembrance Day from our History unit and completed a fact sheet about Enfield Town War Memorial. To support our current Art unit, we also walked to Enfield Park where we sketched a map of our surroundings. It was a wonderful day!
Years 3 and 4 Times Tables Rock Star Day!
In preparation for the Multiplication Test Check in Year 4, Year 3 and 4 took part in a Times Tables Rock Star day! On this day, we dressed up as rock stars and played lots of times tables games and took part in times tables activities. This was very exciting, and allowed us to enjoy practising multiplication in a fun and exciting way
Year 5's Vector Drawings
This week, year 5 have been using their computing lessons to create vector drawings. We learnt that vector drawings are images created on the computer using different shaped that are layered over each other. We had a go at making our own using only the circle and square tools.
Over the next month Year 1 and Year 4 will also be undertaking statutory assessments specific to their year groups, I know the children are working hard in preparation for these.
Our school photographer will be visiting school on Wednesday 7 June to take class and team photos.
Children can wear either summer or winter uniform. Children who have PE on a Wednesday should come into school in their uniform and will change into their PE kit once their photo has been taken.
We have noticed that some children are not wearing the correct summer uniform. Please make sure summer dresses are of a small pink gingham print. There are also a number of children not wearing the correct footwear. You can find the school uniform list on our school website. Please can you ensure all school uniform is named as well as musical instruments and packed lunches.
Our Edible Garden is coming on well. We have lots of vegetables plants growing including sweet peas, runner beans, tomatoes, lettuce, potatoes and many more.
There have been a number of cases of headlice reported in the school. Please ensure you check your child’s hair and treat if necessary.
After school clubs
We hope the children have been enjoying the provision of the after school clubs we have on offer. These will continue straight after half-term and run through to the first week of July (except Kindness Club which concludes on 28 June).
Please may we take this opportunity to remind you of the following:
- Please confirm any change in pickup arrangements from clubs, directly to the club contact with whom you have booked your child’s place (not the school).
- If your child requires specific equipment/clothing for their club, please try and send it in at the beginning of the school day with your child, to avoid items being dropped off in the School Office throughout the day. Please note that all items should be clearly labelled with your child’s name and class.
