A Practical Request to Parents/Carers

Please ensure your child has everything they need when coming to school. While we understand that items can occasionally be forgotten, we kindly ask that anything needing to be brought in is done so by 10.00am to minimise disruption to classes and learning.

Collective Worship Committee News

The Collective Worship Committee Badge
The Collective Worship Committee Badge

We received a record number of applications for membership of the Collective Worship Committee this year. They were all of a very high standard and showed a great degree of thoughtfulness and dedication. Their enthusiasm and commitment to this essential aspect of our community life are fantastic.

Those who have been chosen for the Autumn and first half of the Spring term have already sprung into action, helping Father Daniel with his whole school collective worship. In the story, ten men with leprosy were healed, but only one, a Samaritan, returned to thank Jesus, who told him his faith had healed him. This powerful message about the importance of saying thank you has resonated with our students, reminding us all of the necessity to acknowledge the good in our lives.

More updates about the Committee will follow!

The children in year 1 have been learning about part whole models and using them to understand the composition of numbers. This week they began to use part whole models to help them understand number sentences and fact families. They worked with a partner on a practical activity to develop their understanding.

Year 3 – Celtic Harmony Trip

Last week, Year 3 stepped back in time during their exciting visit to Celtic Harmony in Hertfordshire! The children experienced what life would have been like living in a Celtic camp. They had the opportunity to grind wheat to make their own bread, learn how tools were crafted from slate, and even practise their skills as hunter-gatherers in the forest. The children also enjoyed making their own clay pots and discovering how trading took place — all without using any money! It was a fantastic hands-on day of learning, helping to bring history to life in the most memorable way.

Year 4 - Art

Year 4 have been busy putting the finishing touches on their Art topic: Painting and Mixed Media – Light and Dark. This week, they learned how to think carefully about proportion and composition when planning a still life. The children arranged a variety of objects to create interesting top-down compositions, then used their sketching skills to draw their designs, ready to paint next time. Well done, Year 4!

Year 5 Design and Technology – Food

Year 5 Cook Up a Storm in the STEAM Room!

As part of our Cooking and Nutrition unit, Year 5 prepared and cooked their very own version of a delicious Bolognese sauce in our new and exciting STEAM Room.

Throughout the unit, the children have explored the farm-to-fork process, suggested alternative ingredients, analysed nutritional content, learned about cross-contamination, designed their own jar labels, and even written alternative recipes. Putting all of these skills into practice, they used a range of preparation techniques to make their developed Bolognese recipes from scratch.

The children had an enjoyable and productive day, proudly taking home their Bolognese sauce in beautifully labelled jars—ready for dinner time! It was wonderful to hear such enthusiastic feedback throughout the day, with one pupil declaring, “This is the best day ever!”

After taste-testing their creations, Year 5 chefs gave their recipes an impressive 10/10!

Well done, Year 5 Chefs—fantastic cooking and creativity!
