Thank you

A huge thank you to FOSPS for all their organisation behind the scenes for the number of Christmas events which have taken place and gone so well.

End of day collection change

Please make sure you are up to date with the changes which will take place from the 5th January in regard to the back gate and collection arrangements.

Labelling Items

Please could we ask you to take the opportunity over the Christmas break to name ALL items coming into school (including instruments, lunch boxes, water bottles, caps, PE Kit, school jumpers and cardigans etc), so if anything is misplaced, which inevitably happens, we can reunite it with its owner.

The children and staff looked very sparkly and festive last Friday. Thank you for supporting this fun fund-raising event. Together we raised a whopping £647 that will be used by the charity to help children living in challenging and difficult circumstances. A big thank you once again.

Garden Sale to raise funds

On Wednesday, some of the children who help in our garden organised a sale to raise money to buy some more seeds and bulbs to plant in the school garden next year. Thank you to all the children who helped to pot up the plants, make signs and run the sale! You raised an impressive £50!

Reception – The Tiger Who Came To Tea

Reception have had a wonderful Christmas week at school. So far we have attended the Christingle Church Service, been to the theatre and eaten a delicious Christmas dinner.

We experienced our first school trip. We watched (and participated in!) Judith Kerr’s classic story The Tiger Who Came to Tea as a theatre performance. The children thoroughly enjoyed the trip!

Year 5 Read Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol

This term, Year 5 have been immersing themselves in A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens. Before exploring the story, the children first learnt about Charles Dickens himself and the historical setting in which the book was written, helping them to better understand Victorian life and the themes of the novel.

The text inspired a wide range of cross-curricular work. Pupils created their own imaginative illustrations of the Ghost of Christmas Present.

In English, they practised their creative writing skills by crafting suspenseful story openings, inspired by Dickens’ dramatic style. To conclude the unit, the children wrote thoughtful reviews of A Christmas Carol, sharing their opinions and reflections on the story’s powerful messages.

Year 6

Year 6 took part in an engaging debate, exploring the methods used by the Suffragettes in their campaign to secure votes for women. Pupils were split into teams arguing for and against the Suffragettes’ actions, encouraging them to view the issue from different perspectives. Through lively discussion, they practised key skills such as teamwork, critical thinking and selecting the strongest arguments to support their case. The debate helped deepen their understanding of this important period in history while building confidence in speaking and listening skills.
