We will be starting homework in the Spring term. It will be given out on Friday and is due in on the following Wednesday. It will be used to consolidate our learning for that week.
Please continue to hear your child read daily: this should be a mixture of their scheme books and a range of texts including fiction and non-fiction. Remember to include more challenging texts that you can read to your child to support him/her in understanding sentence structure and correct grammar. Reading should include real life opportunities like menus, shop signs, magazines etc. Remember to write regularly in the reading record to keep us informed of your child’s reading
Remember to practise reading the graphemes which are in the middle of the reading record and on the sound mat that was sent home earlier in the year.
We will begin spellings after the half term break. They will come home every Friday for a test the following Friday and will be based on our phonics covered that week. Please support your child in practising these throughout the week.
Class 1SA will have their games lessons on a Thursday and 1P on a Friday. Please ensure your child has full labelled kit in school every day and continue to encourage independent dressing and undressing (including ties). Earrings should be removed or covered with tape.

How can you help?
Please ensure you child has a glue stick in school labelled with their name.
Please could you child bring in one box of tissues for their classroom. These will be shared in class throughout the term.
Please ensure ALL school items, particularly jumpers, ties and water bottles are labelled.
In order to promote independence, please encourage your child to be aware of letters in their bags that they need to pass on to us.
