Year 5 Homework
We expect the children to read daily, choosing their books from a range of text types and noting the books in the back of their Reading Records. Please listen to your child read on a regular basis and write a comment in their Reading Record once a week. We will also listen to children read in school, writing a comment in their Reading Record, enabling an ongoing dialogue between teachers and parents.
These are distributed on Monday via J2e and tested the following Monday.
Children should be continuously practicing ALL the times tables unless otherwise instructed. These will be tested on Mondays.
A piece of homework, based on a subject area covered during the week or to be covered the following week, will be handed out on Friday and is due in the following Wednesday. Details of this piece of homework will be in the child’s Homework Diary.
It is important that Homework Diaries are signed each week by a parent once homework is completed. If you have any queries, please write a note in the Parent/Teacher comments section. The Homework Diaries will be checked on Mondays.
The class email address for homework completed on a computer (for online homework only that is not completed via J2e) is:
The approximate amount of time per week to be devoted to homework which will be expected of children in Year 5 is 2-2.5 hours.
Games will usually be taught on a Tuesday but PE kit should be in school every day. Earrings must either be removed for PE or tape provided to cover them up.
