Homework Procedures

Homework is given: on a Monday, due on Wednesday; Wednesday, due on Friday and Friday, due for Monday. These days are subject to change and on occasion homework deadlines may vary. Please encourage your child to complete their homework to a high standard and support where necessary and support independent learning via the Internet and in particular ‘MyMaths’ homework.

Reading Record

The children are encouraged to read daily. In their reading record we expect them to log this reading and sometimes answer a focused question, which will support their comprehension skills, in readiness for the SATs. A parent signature is also required and their reading records are checked every Thursday.

Weekly Spelling Homework

Year 6 Spelling Lists are sent home every week on a Friday and tested the following Friday. These are stuck into the back of their reading record and at least three of the spellings need to be included into one complex sentence (written in the back of their reading record) for Thursday.

PE

Games is on a Monday or Thursday, but PE Kits, including trainers should be in daily for lunchtime activities and occasional additional games or PE sessions. Earrings should be removed or covered with tape.
