Homework Procedures

Homework will be given: on a Monday, due on Wednesday; Wednesday, due on Friday and Friday, due for Monday. These days are subject to change and on occasion homework deadlines may vary. Please encourage your child to complete their homework to a high standard and support where necessary and support independent learning via the Internet and in particular, work on J2, ‘MyMaths’, ‘Times Table Rockstars’ and ‘Grammar Bug’.


The children are expected to read daily and expose themselves to a range of text types. They will log their reading on a weekly basis via J2. On occasion, they may be asked a question about the book they are reading.

Weekly Spelling Homework

Year 6 Spelling Lists will also be shared every week via J2 on Friday. At least three of the spellings need to be written onto the document in one complex sentence for the following Tuesday. Spelling tests take place on Friday mornings.


Games is on a Tuesday, but PE Kits, including trainers should be in on a Monday and taken home for weekly washing on Friday. Earrings should be removed or covered with tape.

Feel free to use the homework planner to ask any questions or let us know of any problems. The planner must be signed weekly to be checked every Monday.

  • An A4 flat plastic folder for homework
  • Pritt stick
  • Fine liner pens
  • Colouring pencils
