Early Years Foundation Stage

Intent, Implementation, Impact

Our Vision

Our school is one family, united in love and deeply rooted in our Christian values, where together on life’s journey we flourish, striving for excellence in all that we do. Inspired by the transformation of St Paul, and enlightened by the glory of God, we will shine like stars to make the world a better place.

Our Curriculum Drivers

Our three curriculum drivers, Resilience, Independence and Aspiration shape our curriculum breadth. They are used to ensure we give our children appropriate and ambitious curriculum opportunities.

EYFS Vision

In the Early Years at St Paul’s CE Primary School, we give our children the best possible start in life and the support that enables them to fulfil their potential. A secure, safe and happy childhood is important in its own right. Our children flourish within a Christian environment enriched by our Christian values.

We provide all children with a safe and stimulating opportunities that build on their individual needs and interests. Praise and clear boundaries contribute to building confidence and resilience. We believe in praising effort and valuing the little steps which really make a difference to the children’s progress and self-esteem.

Young children are intrinsically capable of amazing things and we develop this through having high expectations and promoting a strong sense of independence. Our children are proud to be independent in their learning, personal belongings and routines and are proud of their school and the part they play in it.

In Reception, children learn through play and adult directed activities; learning is fun, engaging and suitably challenging. We value the importance of our EYFS environment which offers the children the opportunity to develop their thinking and problem-solving skills. Adults provide high-quality interactions and role models for learning.

We are dedicated to teaching our children life-long skills through our broad, play-based curriculum which is balanced with child-led and adult-led activities, to inspire them to shine like stars to make the world a better place.

Children make good progress against the ELGs and this is closely aligned with our assessment cycle using the ELGs and Tapestry.
